FAQ

  • Matcha is finely-ground green tea, with leaves that have been specially shade-grown to concentrate its nutrients.

  • It both energises and calms with its unique combination of caffeine and L-theanine, an amino acid that produces relaxing neurotransmitters. The L-theanine slows the absorption of caffeine into the bloodstream, helping your caffeine boost last longer - making it a great alternative to coffee.

Besides plenty of other benefits like detoxification and boosting metabolism, good matcha has a delicious and versatile flavour profile.

  • We’ve sourced our matcha and tea from the famed Uji region in Japan since 2015.

It is shipped directly from an independently-owned family tea farm, meaning a sustainable and traceable supply chain that directly benefits the farmers and community.

We hope to introduce more Japanese tea regions in 2025.

  • We are moving away from labelling our products as “Ceremonial” and “Culinary” as they are not fully indicative of a matcha’s profile, origins and quality.

These terms were introduced in the last decade to familiarise matcha users outside of Japan, but recently has sparked inaccurate notions that good matcha has to be “Ceremonial Grade”.

Everyone has different preferences and usages for their matcha - whether it be for wellness, or as a coffee replacement, or baked into yummy desserts. We encourage choosing a product based on your usage.

Our Daily-Grade Matcha is crafted to have a robust, balanced flavour that works great in matcha lattes, and has a beautiful green colour that doesn’t fade in desserts or baking. Our Superior-Grade Matcha is what most would typically call “ceremonial-grade”, made from the youngest leaves and harvested in spring. We recommend consuming this by itself as a matcha tea, or with very minimal milk.

  • Long-term Storage: Store unopened tea powders in the refrigerator, or a cool, dark place away from direct light.

Short-term Storage: Especially if you live in a hot or humid climate, we recommend storing opened tea powders in the refrigerator to maintain freshness. Place packet in an airtight opaque container, and avoid exposure to warm air or wet spoons.
